Beat Cafe has become my favorite bar in Tokyo. I don’t know what makes it so special, it’s kind of small, but cosy, the owner Gensho-san plays all those Indie/New Wave/Punk-Hits that makes you feel nostalgic, and all those nights I spent there were good and rememberable…

But yeah, I want to dedicate today’s post to the toilet there, because it’s full with tags by a lot of people, and if you take a closer look you gonna find tags by some of your favorite bands that had a beer here, too, at some point. So here’s a collection of what I discovered so far.

From top to bottom:

  • Soulwax
  • Lady Gaga
  • High Places (twice!)
  • Telepathe
  • Holy Fuck
  • Das Pop
  • !!!

… and, last but not least:

😉

A huge work by OS GEMEOS, KAMI, NESM, KRESS and SNIPE ONE

A work on the side of the Amway Building by KAMI and KANE

My all-time favorite I guess

Here’s an interesting variation of Tokyo street art: The French Artist Space Invader uses famous (vintage) video game characters as motifs, and he creates the pixel visual by using mosaic tiles. Isn’t that awesome? He’s doing this kind of stuff in cities all over the world. I discovered the two above in Ura-Harajuku, hope to find some more though… Read an interiew with the artist here.

Daikanyama.

Look what I found!
